"Ave maris stella", is a Latin Hymnus which is sung in the Catholic vespers on Marian feasts. It probably stems from the eighth century. The MISSA AVE MARIS STELLA was composed in Latin as well. The texts of the determined parts Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus and Agnus Dei are mixed with the ancient melody of the Hymnus "Ave maris stella". The whole composition uses big and smaller melody parts, and motives from this Hymnus. They accompany the congrgation by the liturgical celebration with refrains, responsories and Organ Soli which are augmented by many timbres. A song from the Office (day prayer) serves as the basis for the Litergy of the Mass (ordinary)
