Dedicated to the harpsichordist Maja Mijatovic. Awarded with "2nd Prize" & "Audience Prize" in Annelie De Man composition competition 2018, in Amsterdam. Ištaratu is a plural form of "Ištar" - Babylonian goddess who embodied love and war at the same time. This plural form was considered an epitome of femininity. The goddess was celebrated as a Morning Star (which associated her with the Sun and masculine attributes) and as an Evening Star (equivalent to the moon – which attributed the feminine characteristics). "Ištar" was able to appear in three genders: male / female / hermaphrodite. This metamorphic ability was the origin of inspiration and the piece can be understood as a sound-metaphor that represents and embraces diversity.
